Dr. Bob Williams is a nationally-renowned physician leader who advises our search team on faculty practice placements, both for clinical and administrative leadership roles.
Dr. Williams began his career as a practicing and teaching family physician and health services researcher. He was an NIH Principal Investigator, Vice Chair of a Medical School Department, and Director of Research. After 20 years as a practicing physician, Dr. Williams joined the consulting world where he served as a senior executive at Ernst & Young, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, and IBM. Most recently he served as Deloitte Consulting’s national medical leader and physician enterprise practice leader (10+ years). He also spent time working overseas with Deloitte Consulting UK.
Today, Dr. Williams is an active Board member of Beaumont Health System, an eight hospital, $4.5B provider organization in Michigan. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor at VCU School of Medicine and an adjunct faculty member at VCU’s MHA program.
Dr. Williams received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Virginia and completed his residency at Montefiore Health System and the Medical College of Virginia, where he was Chief Resident. He also received a master’s degree in health services research from Virginia Commonwealth University.
