As a former health system CIO, Rick Schooler understands the opportunities and challenges healthcare tech leaders face.
Now, as Rudish Health Senior Client Relationship Executive, Rick works closely with tech leaders in healthcare to find solutions to those problems.
Recently, he shared his insights on four of the top considerations for tech leaders in healthcare.
Rick’s Key Considerations:
1: Demand Management
“A significant challenge faced by all IT leaders is the ability to meet a growing level of demand for technology and its associated products, services and support.
Without a structured process to schedule what work is to be completed, by whom and when, there’s little chance of success. Effective demand management results in highly engaged teams structured to meet ever evolving IT demands.”
2: Talent Recruitment and Retention
“Across healthcare, the need for highly skilled talent continues to increase given the advancement and adoption of technology. In particular, IT teams are under pressure to recruit and retain the very best, often in direct competition with other industries.
Further, remote work has introduced significantly more options for those being recruited. IT leaders can no longer afford to merely advertise openings hoping to receive qualified resumes… they need a proven and trusted talent search partner.”
3: Innovation and AI
“The challenge of staying up-to-date with the technology landscape only increases with time. It has become nearly impossible for a given organization to address this alone due to the required level of dedicated focus and expertise, staffing levels and funding.
Organizations need help evaluating and adopting investment opportunities. Without this assistance, fear of missing out (FOMO) can overtake an organization, leading to a “technology chase” that results in wasteful spending, distracted focus and frustration.”
4: Planning and Business Alignment
“As organizations define and evolve their plans and strategies, it is imperative that their investments in IT resources, products and services properly support and align with those priorities.
IT leadership must effectively plan for and continuously communicate how IT investments bring value, both in enabling the future-state and supporting the day-to-day. Executive team consensus and support for a well-aligned IT plan will ensure success.”
