Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is recognized as the world leader in musculoskeletal medicine. Position Summary
The Assistant Vice President, Accounting for Commercial Initiatives reports to the Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer but will work closely with the CFO and other members of the HSS Senior Leadership team. The position plays a key role in the financial well-being of the institution by ensuring the accuracy of the books and records of the Hospital’s joint ventures and other new initiatives.
Position Requirements
Solid experience (7-10 years) of progressive accounting experience.
Minimum five years’ managerial leadership experience
Public accounting experience (manager or senior manager level) in for profit industries. Hospital experience a plus
Strong technical expertise in FASB/GAAP and associated technical issues; highly analytical; capable of providing strategic analysis and insight on financial reporting, and treasury. Awareness of continuing changes that affect financial reporting. Ability to counsel and advise Hospital leadership on a range of related matters.
Strong technical and analytical skills; adept at communicating ideas and facts, packaging information and concepts in a way that increases understanding by others.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree preferable but not required depending on level of relevant experience.
