One Brooklyn Health System (OBHS) is proud to be conducting a search for the first Chairperson of Medicine for their newly integrated health system.

The Chair of Medicine will be viewed by all stakeholders as a strong advocate for balancing the academic, educational, social, and clinical missions of One Brooklyn Health System. The Chairperson will be responsible for implementing and overseeing clinical excellence, value, program growth, organization, integration, and teaching effectiveness. The inaugural Chair must demonstrate a commitment to underserved communities, a commitment to health equity, and a commitment to fearlessly addressing minority and gender bias in health care delivery.

Position Summary

The OBHS Chairperson of Medicine will provide strategic leadership, direction, and coordination for the clinical and teaching components of Departments of Medicine while working collaboratively with clinical and administrative leadership to meet and exceed hospital clinical and business goals. The Chair will maintain the highest quality of medical care for the Department while growing volume. Furthermore, the Chair will provide leadership, ensuring a high level of cooperation, communication among the staff, and will be responsible for promoting and maintaining excellence and integrity in quality and patient care by monitoring volume, clinical quality, operations improvements, residency programs, and financial performance of the Department. They will also work towards improving the health care of the community. Responsible for a budget of $27M, the Chair will be accountable for overall planning, directing, and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures for the Department of Medicine, ensuring the integration of scientifically based, outcome-evaluated clinical knowledge and skills.
