Opportunity

Sun River Health, a respected Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) network serving New York City and surrounding counties, is seeking a highly qualified, mission-oriented, and motivated physician leader as its first Chief Medical Information Officer.


As a senior member of Sun River’s clinical leadership team – the biggest FQHC network in New York and on the East Coast, and one of the largest nationally – the CMIO will hold a highly visible role working hand in hand with IT, informatics, medical directors, and quality leaders to advance Sun River’s clinical informatics approach. Key priorities will include convening a broad range of clinical and informatics departments to address quality and efficiency, gaps in care, contract deliverables, health disparities, and funding. The CMIO will also promote the timely and actionable exchange of patient information to further Sun River’s commitment to improving population health, enhance individual patient outcomes, and participate in quality-based alternative payment models. 

Position Summary

The Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) is a physician leader responsible for the coordination and development of information technology to support the highest quality patient care in a value-based payment environment and the efficient documentation of the same. The CMIO will promote the use of the electronic medical record (EMR), connectivity with external data sources across the continuum of care, claims data, patient apps, advanced analytics, and other information sources within the clinical setting. This provider will see patients at a Sun River Health center two days a week.

 

Position Requirements

Education

  • MD/DO.
  • Board-certified physician in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Emergency Medicine, or Psychiatry.
  • Current, active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in New York, or ability to obtain license in the role.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years clinical practice experience; current primary care clinical practice highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a mission-driven organization strongly preferred.
  • Experience in medical informatics management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with one or more electronic medical record systems (eClinicalWorks preferred).
  • System-based improvement tools including alerts, reminders, recall systems, and patient reminder systems.
  • Knowledge of managed care incentive programs and alternative payment models strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with database reporting tools. Foundation of healthcare informatics concepts, methods, and tools to assess information needs of healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Basic knowledge of quality improvement science.
  • Knowledge of current state of healthcare reform and emerging best practices.
  • Ability to build credibility by demeanor and rapport, establish trust, and effectively communicate across multiple levels of an organization for coordination and decision-making.
  • History of nurturing a culture of inclusive and equitable delivery of patient care to diverse populations. Bilingual individuals preferred.

Compensation

An attractive compensation, benefits, and relocation package will be offered commensurate with the candidate’s experience, with a salary range of

$300,000 - $325,000 yearly.
