Johns Hopkins Medicine, one of the nation’s leading health systems serving Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Florida, is seeking a strategic, persuasive, and analytical professional as its next Director of Pharmaceutical Sourcing.
As a leader in the corporate supply chain division, the Director of Pharmaceutical Sourcing is accountable for managing, transforming, and developing the pharmacy portfolio for Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS). This individual will hold a highly visible role promoting JHHS’s long-term business transformation to integrate supply chain governance and operations as a shared service centrally across entities in a way that leverages the Hopkins marquee brand, achieves volume-based competitive pricing, and reduces pharmacy costs to the organization and patient. Partnering closely with pharmacy leadership, key priorities include contract optimization and designing opportunities for formulary standardization, product selection, and reduced utilization across JHHS entities.
Position Summary
As a vital member of Johns Hopkins Health System’s supply chain team, the Director of Pharmaceutical Sourcing is responsible for developing, executing, and transforming the pharmacy portfolio for JHHS. This position will be accountable for a contract portfolio for pharmacy products and services aligned with the vision for the future of Supply Chain, namely, sourcing the best quality products at the best price, treating customers with service orientation, and focusing on supply chain excellence internally to meet the needs of the health system’s clinicians and patients.
Position Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree and direct pharmacy sourcing experience is required.
- PharmD with five years of experience is highly preferred, or Master’s degree in supply chain, business, applied science, nursing or related field with eight years of experience.
Experience
- Five years of experience in supply chain or related field, including experience in the management of pharmacy products and services and associated expenditures. Healthcare experience is required, preferably at an integrated health system, GPO, distributor, or pharmacy benefit manager.
- Experience in strategic sourcing, value analysis, asset management tracking, vendor relationships, and negotiation is strongly preferred.
