Position Summary

Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling and monitoring the management and administration of end to end Materials Management across the Health System, also known as ‘Inventory & Logistics’. This includes overseeing inventory management across the acute entities and ambulatory surgery centers, (central) warehouse management, receiving, general stores, linen and laundry services and the distribution of materials to and within hospitals.  


Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in business, supply chain, operations or a health care-related field preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in progressively more sophisticated inventory & logistics leadership roles. Experience in optimization of inventory/logistics/warehouse/materials management highly preferred but not required. Experience in a health care setting is preferred but not required.
  • CMRP, CPM or other accredited national supply chain certifications is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of leading-edge supply chain practices. Comprehensive knowledge of supply chain and inventory, distribution, logistics, receiving, materials management, warehouse management, human resource management activities and ERP Supply Chain applications. Experience in supply chain in a health system and knowledge of product categories is preferred but not required. The role requires a deep understanding of Supply Chain functions, including, but not limited to, knowledge of GPO and local contract sourcing, and related procedures pertaining to materials management and purchasing.
  • Highly developed ability to independently anticipate or identify problems, develop solutions and oversee the implementation of solutions to ultimate resolution. Uses data supplied by managers to make recommendations for improvements or changes to processes. In addition, have the ability to extract and interpret data in the form of reports to address issues at a macro level.
  • Ability to provide leadership, strategic direction, oversight and management for a large and complex Inventory & Logistics function, working at system level.
  • Dynamic, adaptable and quick learner with strong communication and listening skills.
  • Proven track record of overseeing receiving and distribution, warehouse management, inventory management and wider materials managements, ensuring high quality and exceptional customer service.
  • Strong process and efficiency orientation.
  • Ability to take a departmental Supply Chain strategy and translate this into and execute against a holistic and integrated inventory & logistics strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading large-scale improvement projects, driving operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability in building high performing teams and in coaching and developing diverse groups of staff.
  • Fosters collaboration and transparency.
  • Able to establish consensus amongst a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across member organizations and with Supply Chain staff in particular.
  • Strong influencing, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in adopting leading distribution and inventory and logistics practices.
  • Deep problem-solving, conflict management and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in dealing with HR issues and demonstrated capability in financial management.
