Clover Health, a modern, technology-forward health plan, is seeking a passionate, deal-driven individual as its inaugural Head of Corporate Development.
The Head of Corporate Development will be a key executive, critical in furthering Clover’s mission by building a partnership roadmap across the organization’s capabilities. The Head of Corporate Development will have significant experience in end-to-end development of strategic partnerships. This leader will be the key architect of value based / risk-based deals with key health care ecosystem partners. This role will be responsible for the end-to-end partner management process: from identifying partners, to term and deal sheet structuring, to negotiation, and finally to signature.
Position Summary
A newly created position, the Head of Corporate Development will lead the Corporate Development function by managing and executing on all strategic partnerships, alliances, joint ventures, M&A, licensing, and incubating new ventures. Critically, the Head of Corporate Development will be tasked with crafting end-to-end risk and value-based partnerships from conception to execution.
Position Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience including investment banking, health plan or care management partnerships, and/or healthcare startup. Prior Medicare Advantage experience is a plus.
- 5+ years of leadership experience required.
- Significant experience with value-based contracting or risk deals required. Must be able to demonstrate and explain prior value based contracting experience and identify potential challenges and pitfalls.
- Experience negotiating multi-million-dollar commercial arrangements in a clinical, provider, and health plan environment.
- Strong financial acumen and can calculate ROI/deal terms (e.g., PMPM and shared savings constructs).
- Conducted prior due diligence on companies and can walk through the process.
- Direct experience with partnership development, contract structuring in a healthcare environment and technology environment.
- Experience collaborating across various levels of an organization and are comfortable communicating with and creating materials for leadership and executives.
- Prior experience with technology/digital health deals, and/or setting up venture funds or incubation arms in health tech preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required. JD or other advanced degree preferred.
