Opportunity
Emory Healthcare, a premier academic health system serving the Atlanta and Georgia region, is seeking a highly qualified, dedicated, and collaborative finance professional as its inaugural Vice President of Finance Operations and Corporate Controller.
This leader will hold a highly visible role and be included in high-level strategic decisions of the organization. Key priorities include shaping finance transformation initiatives to improve all areas of accounting operations and compliance, with a focus on Emory Healthcare’s system-wide integration, accuracy, timeliness, and financial reporting in line with redistributed business unit, service line, and clinical enterprise operating models. The VP serves as Emory Healthcare’s go-forward chief controller with a team of controllers at individual business units as direct line reports. They also serve as a senior level advisor for health system executives (including the CFO, VP of Financial Planning & Analytics, and University finance and treasury committees) on the financial position of Emory Healthcare.
Position Summary
The Vice President of Financial Operations & Corporate Controller serves as a financial business and accounting leader for Emory Healthcare (EHC). This leader has responsibility for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating all accounting functions of EHC and serves as a senior level advisor for the EHC CFO, VP for Financial Planning and Analytics, and other EHC executives on the financial position of the healthcare system. They serve as a close partner with the University Finance and Treasury Division, primarily the University Controller, for all accounting matters and will maintain a dotted reporting line to the Vice President of Finance and Treasury at Emory University.
Position Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field.
- Master's degree in business, accounting, or related field preferred.
- Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
Experience
- Ten years of financial management experience which must include healthcare accounting, large complex organization accounting and/or auditing experience.
- Direct management experience.
- Experience with PeopleSoft or other current financial system is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- An in-depth working knowledge of GAAP, Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and federal compliance requirements is required.
