Opportunity
HealthPartners, an integrated healthcare provider and health insurance organization located in Bloomington, Minnesota, is seeking a highly qualified real estate professional as its next Vice President of Real Estate, Planning & Construction.
As a key executive at HealthPartners – the largest consumer governed not-for-profit healthcare organization in the country – the Vice President will provide strategic oversight and senior level management for the enterprise-wide real estate portfolio in this newly centralized role. This leader will bring a thorough understanding of internal and external processes related to real estate, facilities planning, and capital project activities, in alignment with HealthPartners’ mid- to long-range organizational objectives. Key priorities include replacement hospital planning, space leasing, and new facility/clinic planning under a ~$600M new construction budget.
Position Summary
The Vice President Real Estate, Planning & Construction is responsible for leading the strategy and management of the HealthPartners system-wide real estate activities including site location, building and land acquisition/disposition, space leasing, facilities planning, and construction. This includes establishing and implementing strategies that have mid to long term impact on business results in alignment with HealthPartners organization objectives.
Position Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, construction, or related field.
Qualifications
- Certification by a national leader in the field of corporate real estate preferred.
Experience
- Ten plus years professional level real estate experience within a major organization, preferably a health system with a network of hospitals and clinics.
- Minimum ten years’ experience in a senior management role.
- Previous involvement in complex projects/transactions that demonstrate required negotiation, communication, and influencing skills.
- Experience with new hospital build or new ambulatory surgery center build is preferred.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills. Must be able to juggle multiple projects at once and manage urgent requests.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally among departments and teams.
- Ability to distill complex financial concepts and present to both financial and non-financial audiences.
- Ability to motivate, involve and engage highly diverse constituent groups including external brokers and vendors.
- This position requires familiarity and compliance with matters of law, regulations and internal policies affecting the employment relationship, (including but not limited to FMLA, ADA discrimination and harassment laws).
