Opportunity

Rudish Health is currently seeking seasoned Chief Information Officer candidates for future Interim assignments with our hospital and health system clients.  The Interim CIO will provide executive leadership and strategic oversight of our healthcare organization’s information technology functions. This role would be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and advancement of IT systems that support patient care, compliance, and operational efficiency. The Interim CIO will act as a bridge during this transitional period, guiding technology strategy, managing vendor relationships, and supporting digital health initiatives while preparing the organization for long-term leadership.

Position Summary

• Provide executive direction for IT strategy aligned with organizational goals, patient care, and regulatory requirements.
• Assess current IT operations and recommend improvements in systems, staffing, and processes.
• Partner with executive leadership to advance digital transformation and innovation initiatives.
• Ensure reliable and secure operation of clinical, financial, and administrative systems (EHR, revenue cycle, telehealth, etc.).
• Oversee IT service delivery, help desk performance, and system uptime to support clinicians and staff.
• Lead IT project management, including system upgrades, implementations, and integrations.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare data security regulations.
• Strengthen cybersecurity posture, policies, and incident response capabilities.
• Oversee audits, risk assessments, and regulatory reporting related to information systems.
• Serve as a key liaison between IT, clinical leaders, and administrative teams.
• Manage vendor contracts, ensuring accountability and cost-effectiveness.
• Provide clear communication to the Board and senior leadership on IT performance and initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and support IT leadership and staff during the interim period.
• Evaluate organizational structure and recommend changes to strengthen long-term IT leadership.
• Support recruitment and onboarding of permanent CIO (if applicable).

Position Requirements

• Proven experience as a CIO, Interim CIO, or senior IT leader in healthcare.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare IT systems, including EHR/EMR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.), interoperability, and clinical workflows.
• Expertise in cybersecurity, data governance, and compliance (HIPAA, HITECH, Joint Commission).
• Demonstrated ability to manage enterprise IT strategy, budgets, and vendor partnerships.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and change management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Healthcare Administration, Informatics, or related field preferred.
